Two of the main residence halls on campus have been recently renovated, and Roberson Hall, a brand new, state of the art facility opened in August 2011. When you add the fact that half of Emmanuel’s student body lives on campus, you can realize that Emmanuel College Residence Life is a dynamic and exciting part of the college that you will want to be a part of.

Residency Exemption Application
What are the residency requirements?
Emmanuel College requires all full-time students to live in a college owned residence hall unless a student meets the criteria outlined in the Residence Life Guide above. If a student does not meet one of these criteria, he or she can submit a residency exemption application listed above which will be reviewed by the residency exemption committee. For new, incoming students, the deadline for submitting your Residency Exemption Application is July 15. Although, we encourage you to submit it sooner, so that in the event that you are not approved, you will still have plenty of time to try and get into your preferred residence hall of choice.
How do I secure a room?
Pay a $200 registration fee, which goes towards your tuition, when you register for classes at one of our Registration Events or via phone if you meet the requirements set by the Admissions Office to do so, and submit a New Student Housing Application in person at that Registration Event or fax/email it to Student Life if you are registering via phone. Once these items are complete you will be eligible for a housing assignment at Emmanuel College.
The registration fee is not a housing deposit; it DOES NOT reserve a housing assignment. The College places students based on registration. Therefore, a student will not be placed in housing until he or she has registered for classes and paid the registration fee.
How do I get into Roberson Hall, the newest residence hall complex on campus?
It is very unlikely that a new student will get into one of the towers at our newest residence hall complex, Roberson, since most of our current students will fill up those towers during what we call Housing Rush. The typical place of residency for a new, incoming student is Jackson or Drum Hall for females and Wellons or Drum Hall for males. Each year, as you move up in class standing, you will have a better chance at being able to reside in Roberson Hall through a process known as Housing Rush, which occurs each April for our current students.

How is my roommate chosen?
On the New Student Housing Application, there is a space for you to request a roommate. Residence Life will try to accommodate roommate requests. However, accommodations/requests will only be made for students who have paid the $200 registration fee, registered for classes, and filled out a housing application. Roommates can only be placed together once both students complete the requirements listed. While the College attempts to honor housing requests, we cannot make any guarantees.
If I don’t request a roommate, how will one be chosen for me?
The College assigns roommates based on the information provided on the housing application and other provided documents.
When will I receive my housing assignment?
Housing assignments are typically made within 7-10 business days after you register for classes, as long as your $200 registration fee has been received. You will then receive an email letting you know that your room assignment is visible.
How can I view my room/roommate?
Once made, housing assignments are visible on the student information page of the College Registration System (CRIS) under the ‘Room’ tab. The email you receive will provide you with a link that takes you to your assignment in the CRIS system. You have to log in and click on the ‘Room’ tab. It will also include your roommate with a picture. If you cannot view your room then it means that you still need to settle your account. If your roommate is not visible, then it means you have not yet been assigned a roommate, or your roommate has not settled his/her account. The email that you receive will have contact information listed for any questions that you may have regarding your assignment.
Can I change my room assignment?
You can request a room change through the Office of Student Life, but changes cannot be guaranteed. They will be completed based on availability. Once you check-in/move in, room changes cannot be made for two weeks. You can request a room change with your Residence Director and he/she will inform you if you can move following the two week housing freeze. Residence Directors are responsible for room assignments and changes once the academic year begins.
Are there housing options for married and/or non-traditional students?
Yes. College owned rental property is available to married or non-traditional students, space permitting. These locations are in close proximity to campus. Please contact the Office of Student Life regarding availability.
