IPHC General Superintendent to speak at graduation
Join us for this year's graduation ceremonies on Saturday morning, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the John W. Swails Center as we welcome Bishop A.D. Beacham Jr. to deliver this year's commencement address.
A 1969 graduate of Emmanuel College, Dr. Beacham became the General Superintendent and 19th Presiding Bishop of the International Pentecostal Holiness Chruch (IPHC) last summer.
"Emmanuel College has prepared thousands of men and women who serve Jesus Christ around the globe. The College and Franklin Springs community and church have had a profound impact on my life,” Bishop Beacham says. “I met my wife there, our children were reared there, and much of my ministry occurred there. I am walking into this season of God's assignment with a deep sense of His grace and provision; things I learned in Franklin Springs."
A lifelong member of the IPHC, Bishop Beacham spent his formative and young adult years in South Norfolk, Va., and Franklin Springs, Ga., where he sat under the tutelage of scholars like Dr. Vinson Synan and the Rev. John Swails. His father was also a respected leader who served the church at the conference and general levels.
Bishop Beacham has served the IPHC for more than 40 years. He has been a military chaplain, pastor, conference superintendent, and executive director of Discipleship Ministries (then Church Education Ministries) and World Missions Ministries. He is also an accomplished scholar and author with intricate knowledge of the IPHC’s history and heritage.
Homecoming is October 4-5, 2013
