Emmanuel College Awards 115 Bachelor's Degrees While Celebrating 90 Years

(FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.)--Ninety years after Emmanuel College was founded, 115 talented, diverse graduates earned their bachelor's degrees Saturday, May 9, to pursue careers in education, business, psychology, ministry, and many others fields.

President Michael Stewart, Bonnie & Steve WurzbacherCommencement speaker Bonnie Wurzbacher is Senior Vice President of Global Customer Leadership at The Coca-Cola Company. She told graduates how she found her calling and said a Christian who wants to make a positive difference in the world should not overlook the world of business.

"A healthy, ethical, well run business can have such a positive impact on the world that it can be one of the most noble callings at Christian can have," Wurzbacher said.

One parent watching his second daughter graduate from EC was Charisma Magazine Editor Lee Grady, and in his article this week he describes how he sees today's students. "What they crave is reality—honest relationships, healthy mentoring, passionate worship and daring faith that is reflected through brave actions, not just words," he wrote.

John W. Swails CenterEmmanuel College has come a long way in 90 years and has seen much change even in recent years. Dr. Michael Stewart began serving as president of EC in 2004, the same year most of this 2009 graduating class came to Emmanuel. The Board of Trustees recently re-elected President Stewart to another four-year term.

Founded in 1919, Emmanuel is an accredited four-year liberal arts college with 23 majors: biology, business administration, information systems (minor), Christian ministries, communication, early childhood educationmiddle grades educationsecondary education (business, English, math, music, history), English, history, kinesiology (exercise science, sports management), mathematics, music, pre-law, pre-professional (pre-dentalpre-medical, pre-pharmacy), psychology, and worship & music ministry.
