Students from the Emmanuel College Collegiate FFA Program partnered with the Education Club and Athletic Department with a vision of being able to give back to the local community through a Collecting for Kids campaign. The Collecting for Kids campaign was an original idea that wanted to provide students in the Franklin County School System with proper hygiene product kits. With a population of around 22,188 people, the poverty rate is at an alarming 25.2% or about 1 in 4 people, which can make it difficult for students or their families to have access to these products.
This campaign was a tremendous success. The students easily surpassed their goal and collected over 200 bags of hygiene products. This campaign not onlyhelped reach out to local families to show that the community cares, but to also promotes a healthier lifestyle.
“The Agriculture Department and Emmanuel Collegiate FFA were overwhelmed by the support our Emmanuel College staff and students showed for this project,” Mr. Owen Thomason said. “We hope to continue this community service endeavor in the future.”
