Coach Borchers is excited about the opportunities God is planning for the revitalized EC soccer programs. He noted during his introduction to the EC Athletic staff and current soccer teams that he has three primary passions are: serving God, his family, and soccer.
Scott comes to EC with an impressive breadth of experience. He played at Piedmont College (1995-1998) as a “Four-year starter and three-year captain”. He earned distinction as an all-conference player (1996-1998), selection to the 1997 NAIA All-South Region Team, and earned All-American Honorable Mention in 1997. Scott also played at the semi-pro level as a member of the “Bluebird Premiere League”, New Zealand in 2000.
Coach Borchers’ coaching experience is also noteworthy. Scott has coached at the Georgia Futbol Club in Lilburn, GA, at the North Georgia Soccer Association in Clarkesville, GA, and from 2003-2006 he served as the Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Soccer at Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, GA. Scott led the 2006 Truett-McConnell Men’s team to a 11-4-4 record, their first winning season in 10 years. He was also responsible for a similar result with the Women’s program, leading the team from a 1-17 record to a 10-9-2 record and 3rd place in their conference in 2006. These were remarkable reversals of direction in only three full seasons.
Scott was recognized by his coaching peers as the 2006 GJCAA Region 17 Coach of the Year. Coach Borchers holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Borchers earned his Masters degree in Physical Education with a Coaching Specialization from Ball State University (08).
Scott and his wife Audrey, with their sons Cole and Kale, are already becoming an integral part of the EC Community.
