(FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.)—Congratulations to Emmanuel College’s Vice President for Finance, Dr. Kevin Crawford, and Volleyball Coach Mindy Crawford on being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Lincoln Christian University in Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The two are being honored for their significant accomplishments in the LCU Red Lions Women’s Volleyball Program.
“Being inducted into any sports hall of fame is one of the highest athletic honors you can receive,” says José Larios, EC’s Athletic Director. “For Mindy as a player, it speaks to her drive and competitive spirit. For Dr. Crawford as a coach, this honor speaks to his vision and pursuit of excellence. We are thankful to see those same attributes in both of their roles at Emmanuel.”
Kevin served as head coach of the LCU Women’s Volleyball Team from 1991 to 2006 with an impressive record of 452-196 (70% winning percentage) and was named NCCAA II National Coach of the Year three times. He coached his teams to five NCCAA II Final Four finishes and four NCCAA II Midwest Regional Championships. Nineteen (19) of his players were NCCAA II All-Americans (1st & 2nd teams), two were named NCCAA II National Player of the Year, and 11 were NCCAA II Academic All-Americans.
In his 16 years at LCU, Kevin’s teams made 11 consecutive trips to NCCAA II national tournaments, and two of those teams won national championships. Mindy was a starter on the 15-member team who won the Midwest Regional Championship and the National Championship in 2003. They won 90 percent of their games with their 36-4 record—that’s the highest season winning percentage in the history of the school’s volleyball program. In her career, Mindy also earned All-American and All-Regional honors and twice was named National Libero of the Year.
In December 2010 EC hired Mindy to build the new women’s volleyball program as the first head coach of that team. This season, she led the team to the conference playoffs in just their second season—an impressive feat in the competitive Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). She also serves as EC’s athletic events coordinator and is the daughter of Kevin and Becky Crawford. Before coming to Emmanuel, she had worked as a marketing and event coordinator for the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
