Swails Center Guidelines
General Guidelines
Emmanuel College is pleased to offer the use of the John W. Swails Center Auditorium for Community events. Request for the use of the Swails Center will be considered based on the following criteria:
All college activities and functions related to the operation and promotion of the college take first priority.
Community events will not be hosted if the event is not in harmony with the mission of Emmanuel College. (Smoking, alcoholic beverages, some types of dancing and secular music are not allowed.)
Booking of community events typically will not be made more than three months in advance.
Emmanuel College reserves the right to cancel any booked community event within 30 days of the event.
EC reserves the right to have a promotional booth during any hosted event.
Profit organizations or individuals will not be allowed to use the auditorium for profit or business endeavors resulting in financial gain (photographers for sittings, cellular phones, etc.)
Civic/church related groups and charity functions may use the facility for fundraisers for non-profit.
EC is not responsible for injuries to individuals or damages to or loss of personal property.
Misplaced/Stolen Property – any property of Emmanuel College that is not in place after an event will be considered misplaced. The responsible person will be contacted and given 24 hours to replace the item(s). After such time, the property will be considered stolen and appropriate course of action will be pursed to recover the full price of the item(s) from the responsible person(s).
All trash, containers, papers, etc. should be picked up and placed in proper receptacles (dumpster located at loading dock at rear of auditorium) or removed from the premises (this includes auditorium, stage area, parking lots and grounds).
After an event the responsible individual will make sure that all lights (ex. night-lights) are turned off and all doors are shut completely.
Event participants or guests of the event are not allowed on the mezzanine level at the rear of the auditorium for any reason. This area is restricted to authorized personnel only.Failing to comply with these guidelines can result in additional charges and will result in denial for future auditorium usage.
Event Insurance Requirements
Liability Insurance coverage is required for all events. Emmanuel College can provide coverage for $100 per event date. This fee will be waived if the event sponsor can provide a current Certificate of Liability Insurance.
Event Fee Schedule/Planning
The fees for use of the auditorium are determined by the type of event, length of event, and number of attendees expected for the event. A deposit may be required. Deposits will be non-refundable unless the college cancels the event.
A single contract must be received for any booking to be considered confirmed. The individual who signs the contract becomes the only point of contact for Emmanuel College for the planning, correspondence, and problem resolution for the event and is held responsible for the auditorium and its contents.
There will be an additional fee if rehearsal is required prior to the actual event. The hourly rate for use of auditorium will be $35/hr. This rate does not include staffing fees.
Fees are subject to be increased if requests by the event’s responsible representative change the original basis for the event fee.
Musical Instruments
Steinway Grand Piano
Only designated college personnel may move the piano from its box immediately prior to its use (rehearsals, performances, events) and return it to its box at the conclusion of the event.
Under no circumstances may the piano be moved from the stage area.
All internal and external groups or organizations will be responsible for any damages.
Groups who prefer not to use the Steinway may use the Swails Center rehearsal piano or may bring their own piano, either electronic or acoustic.
A rental fee of $150 is required for the use of the Steinway Grand Piano. No fee waiver is allowed.
Parking
Handicap parking ONLY in front of Swails Center. Public parking is located on both east and west sides of Swails Center.
Access to the public parking lots is from Westclox Circle behind the facility. THESE LOTS CANNOT BE ACCESSED FROM THE HANDICAP PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF SWAILS.
Damage to Facility
At the sole discretion of Emmanuel College, damage that is found immediately after an event that is deemed greater than normal usage will be repaired at the rate of $75/hr. plus the cost of materials.
Absolutely no use of duct tape on walls, doors, windows, etc.
Furnishings are not to be used during an event (artificial greenery, benches, etc.).

ELI Scholarship
The Emmanuel Leadership Initiative (ELI) Scholarship is an institutional program that recognizes students with outstanding leadership skills.
Award
For 2013-2014, the award is up to $8,400 per semester or $16,800 per year (see below chart). A maximum of two leadership scholarships will be awarded to full-time, degree-seeking freshmen each year with the total number of scholarships at any given time not to exceed eight.

Eligibility
This scholarship must be coordinated with other financial aid awarded at Emmanuel. If this scholarship is awarded in conjunction with any of the aid programs listed below, the total amount of scholarships and grants cannot exceed the cost of tuition and residence charges. If exceeded, the below scholarships will be adjusted: Athletic Scholarship, Founders Scholarship, Tuition Exchange Scholarship and Qualified Tuition Reduction.
- Initial Award:
- The application deadline in March 15th
- Must represent exemplary servant leadership within the student’s church, school, and community
- Must be a graduating high school senior
- Must have at the minimum a 3.5 GPA and scored at least 1000 on SAT or 21 on ACT
- Must have completed the FAFSA, the Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid and the ELI Scholarship Application (click here to download). Georgia residents must also complete the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Application (GA411). All the applications except the ELI Scholarship Application are available on the Net Partner website here.
- Award Renewal:
- After the initial award year, this scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three more years if the following criteria continue to be met:
- Must participate faithfully in the Emmanuel College ELI program
- Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Must have completed the FAFSA and the ELI Scholarship Application (click here to download). Georgia residents must also complete the GA411 Application.

Senior Citizen Discount
This discount is available to all students who are 65 years of age or older.
Award
The discount is tuition minus all federal and state scholarships/grants. This discount is available for all semesters the student is enrolled. This discount is non-transferable and not redeemable for cash. This scholarship in combination with any scholarships and grants cannot exceed the cost of tuition.
Application
The application to apply for the Senior Citizen Discount is the Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid which is available here. To be eligible for this discount the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must also be filled out. The HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Applications must be completed if a resident of the State of Georgia.
Renewal
Students are eligible to receive this discount each year, provided that they maintained Satisfactory Academic Progress.
International Scholarship
The International Student Scholarship is an institutional scholarship given to new and returning international students who are full-time degree-seeking students enrolling at Emmanuel College.
Awards
The award is up to $2,500 per semester or up to $5,000 per year. This scholarship is not available during the summer semester. Students beginning enrollment during the spring semester are eligible to receive this scholarship.
Application
The Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid is the application for this scholarship. This application needs to be completed each year.
Renewal
These scholarships are renewable each year provided the recipient maintains a 2.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and full-time enrollment.
A recipient cannot receive this scholarship for more than eight semesters.
Additional Requirements
The recipient of this scholarship must qualify as follows:
- Must be officially accepted for admission and enrolled as a full-time degree seeking student at Emmanuel College;
- Must have a completed Financial Aid file by June 15;
- Must be coordinated with other financial aid awarded;
- This scholarship is non-transferable to other students or to any other institution;
- This scholarship is not redeemable for cash.
Family Discount
A discount is given to full-time, degree-seeking students at Emmanuel College when two or more immediate family members* in the same household are enrolled simultaneously. This includes dependent siblings, parents of dependent students, and/or married couples. Joint enrolled students are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
*Immediate family members would include dependents who are in foster care or legal guardianship.
Award
The discount is $300 per semester or $600 per year for each student. This discount is available to students for the summer semester providing that all family members are enrolled full-time. This discount is non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
Application
The application to apply for the Family Discount is the Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid. The application is available here and needs to be completed each year.
Renewal
Students are eligible to receive this discount each year if all applicable family members continue to be enrolled full-time at Emmanuel College and have maintained Satisfactory Academic Progress.
In addition to scholarship, students are encouraged to apply for additional forms of assistance by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid here and the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant here.
All grants, scholarships and loans singularly or in combination cannot exceed a students’ cost of attendance. A students cost of attendance is determined by the financial aid office and includes tuition, room and board, books, transportation and miscellaneous expenses.
Founders Scholarship
A scholarship is given to full-time, degree-seeking students enrolling for the first time, who are currently attending an International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC) or Congregational Holiness Church (CHC).
Award
Any eligible applicant can receive up to $1,250 per semester or up to $2,500 per year. This scholarship is non-transferable, not available during the summer semester and not redeemable for cash. This scholarship, in combination with any scholarships and grants, cannot exceed the cost of tuition and residence charges.
Application
The application to apply for the Founders Scholarship is the Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid. The application is available online here.
Renewal
These scholarships are renewable each year provided the recipient maintains a 2.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and full-time enrollment. A recipient cannot receive this scholarship for more than eight semesters.
In addition to scholarship, students are encouraged to apply for additional forms of assistance by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid here and the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant here.
All grants, scholarships and loans singularly or in combination cannot exceed a students’ cost of attendance. A students cost of attendance is determined by the financial aid office and includes tuition, room and board, books, transportation and miscellaneous expenses.
Ministerial Scholarship
The Ministerial scholarship provides financial assistance to full-time degree-seeking students who are credentialed ministers, as well as spouses or dependents* of credentialed ministers, actively ministering in one of the following roles: a) pastor, b) missionary, c) evangelist, d) chaplain, e) conference or general official in a denomination, or f) other ministerial position.
*Dependents include individuals who are in foster care or legal guardianship.
Award
The award is $500 per semester or $1,000 per year. The scholarship is non-transferable, not available during the summer semester and not redeemable for cash.

Renewal
These scholarships are renewable each year (up to four years) provided the recipient maintains above criteria as well as Satisfactory Academic Progress.
