The mission of the Work Study Program at Emmanuel College is to provide students a meaningful work experience aimed at enhancing their college and career goals, while providing financial support.
Emmanuel College strives to offer a wide variety of employment opportunities, both on and off campus. The Work Study Program assists both the college and community businesses by developing job opportunities that allow students the opportunity to earn money, expand academic preparation, and explore career objectives through their college work experience. Students are encouraged to submit their application for student employment to Financial Aid as soon as possible.
The two types of student employment are:
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is for students who have demonstrated need according to the results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Institutional Work-Study (IWS) is for students who are not eligible for the Federal Work-Study program, including international students.
How Do I Apply?
Any student interested in working on campus through the Work Study Program must submit an Application for Work Study to Financial Aid. Applications can be downloaded via the link below or students can visit the Financial Aid Office.
Applications for the Work Study Program are processed through the Financial Aid office and are then forwarded to Human Resources. All applications submitted remain on file and the information is forwarded to departments as jobs become available. Student work study jobs on campus are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.
All F-1 student employees may begin working provided that the student has met all I-9 requirements. International students must obtain a Social Security number in order to stay employed. To obtain a social security card, the international student must be hired in a department. The student must go to the Human Resources office for a letter to take to the Social Security Administration office indicating the department supervisor’s name and the signature of the Director of Human Resources. In order to complete the Student Employment Hiring process, International student employees must provide either a receipt of application for a Social Security card or the actual Social Security card within 10 business days of the start of employment.
Change in Student Status
No student worker may not continue to work on campus after withdrawing from school, dropping below 6 hours, or upon completion of their program. It does not matter what time of the year the change in status occurs (fall, spring, or summer).
Before a student can start work, all students selected for a Work Study position must complete and submit a Work Study Hire Packet, which includes the Work Study Supervisor Contract, Federal and State payroll forms, and the Federal I-9 form to Human Resources. Proper documentation for verifying identity and eligibility to work within the United States via E-Verify is required.
All positions are paid at least minimum wage, and student employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by electronic deposit to the Emmanuel Prepaid Card. For payroll questions, please contact Anita Ray at 706-245-2806 or email@example.com.
