COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Olympic Committee announces Emmanuel College Archer Dustin Clark is named to the 2014 United States Archery Team (USAT) Junior Compound Men's Team.
This highly coveted and respected team of only five members travels on behalf of the U.S. around the world representing U.S. Archery in contests with other national teams.
“It is an honor to be able to represent the United States and Emmanuel College in the upcoming tournament year as part of the United States Archery Team,” says Clark, a freshman from Gainesville, Fla., majoring in mathematics.
“I would like to recognize the time and guidance Coach Estrada has given me as well as the opportunity Emmanuel has allowed. Not many colleges have archery teams or archery scholarships,” he says. “I will continue to work hard and hope to shoot straight!”
Clark earns this spot by being ranked in the top five of his discipline. After a year of intense training and competing, he placed third in the compound bow rankings out of the thousands who competed.
"This is an extremely prestigious honor for Dusty and for me as his coach," says EC Archery Head Coach Rodney Estrada, who also had one of his private archery students to make the USAT this year. “These accomplishments are a shining light for our Lord!" he adds.
This is Coach Estrada’s first season at Emmanuel as well as the College’s first year to have a men’s and women’s archery program.
