For the third consecutive year, Emmanuel College is again certified as an NAIA 5 Star Champions of Character Institution for the 2011-12 school year.

Emmanuel has received this recognition every year since the initiative began in 2009.
“This award is a tribute to our coaches, student athletes and fans, both past and present,” says Emmanuel Athletic Director Mike Bona. “Their resolve of not being influenced by their environment but rather influencing it, by choosing to be character-driven on and off the field, is a testament to the honor of this accomplishment.”
The NAIA Champions of Character initiative seeks to recognize institutions fulfilling the five core values of the NAIA: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
A quick tour of the EC Athletics website will show these five core values personified in Emmanuel’s athletic programs, including "Dig for a Cure" breast cancer awareness matches for women's volleyball, softball after-school clinics at the local housing authority, players and coaches pitching in to lay sod at Emmanuel’s new athletic center, and a variety of missions projects all highlight the service student athletes provide on campus and in communities they visit.
