Dr. Gary Moon To Speak at Fall Graduation

Emmanuel College is thrilled to celebrate our Fall 2020 graduates on Saturday, November 21 at 3:00p.m. in the John W. Swails Center for our inaugural Fall Graduation. Approximately 24 graduates will be receiving their degrees.

Dr. Gary Moon will serve as the Commencement Speaker.

Dr. Moon served as the founding Executive Director of the Martin Institute for Christianity and Culture and the Dallas Willard Center for Christian Spiritual Formation at Westmont College. He continues to direct their resource development initiatives through serving as the director of Conversatio Divina: A Center for Spiritual Formation. He also serves as Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Spiritual Formation at Richmont Graduate University and as the director of the DMIN program in spiritual direction at Fuller Theological Seminary. He served as the founding director of the Renovaré International Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation and as a founding Editor of the Conversations Journal

Dr. Moon attended Emmanuel College when it was a two-year college and graduated with his A.A. degree in 1975. He continued his education at the University of Georgia, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. He then attended Fuller Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity degree and a PhD in clinical psychology.

Moon writes in areas such as the theoretical and practical integration of psychology, theology, and spiritual formation. He has published and presented over 300 professional and popular papers. He recently completed a biography of Dallas Willard, for which Moon won the Christian Book Award® in Biography and Memoir. 

Due to COVID-19 protocols, guests will be required to wear protective face coverings. Screening will done as guests enter the Swails Center, therefore early arrival is suggested.

Graduates are requested to notify the Registrar of the number of guests who will be attending. Guests will be seated together; but also physically distanced from other guest groups. Your assistance in securing an accurate count of guests is greatly appreciated. However, due to limited space, it is requested to limit group size.
