Mission
The Office of Counseling Services is proud to serve the students of Emmanuel College. Our mission is to help students define and accomplish personal, spiritual and academic goals. This mission will be accomplished through individual and group counseling and support, programming, consultative services, crisis management and assessment services.

Monday-Thursday 8:30a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Friday – 8:30a.m. – 2:00p.m.
Appointments are preferred, but not necessary.
A Word About Groups
Counseling Services may offer support groups or topical groups throughout the semester, covering subjects like depression, eating disorders, anger management, self-esteem, communication, and others. If you are interested in participating in a group, please contact Counseling Services.
Who We Serve
Counseling services are provided by licensed staff members and available to current Emmanuel College students. When deemed necessary, friends, family members or others may be asked to join an individual counseling session. Services are not available through Counseling Services to faculty or staff (please see information regarding EAP), the community at large or family members of students.
Emergencies
In case of emergencies after hours, on-campus students should contact their Residence Director or call 911, or get to the closest local hospital emergency room.
Meet our counselors
Chris Maxwell served 19 years as lead pastor in Orlando, Florida, after five years of youth ministry. He’s now in his 16th year as Campus Pastor and Director of Spiritual Life at Emmanuel College. He speaks in churches, conventions, and schools, and is the author of ten books, including “Pause With Jesus,” “Underwater,” and “a slow and sudden God: 40 years of wonder.” His latest book is his 2nd collection of poems—“embracing now: pain, joy, healing, living.” Pastor Chris helps plan our Chapel services, and is honored to minister to students through pastoral care and mentoring.
